Why Cormach cranes look different

A Cormach uses a twin column turret on a large slew bearing, driven by an external motor and gearbox, on every model in the range. Most makers keep that layout for their biggest cranes and use a single column with rack and pinion rotation below that.

• Stress is spread, not concentrated. The twin columns carry lifting and shock loads down into the slew bearing and the base, instead of into one point at the top of a single column.
• Symmetrical about the centerline, with no offset columns or booms, so pins, bearings and bushes wear evenly.
• A low center of gravity, with the heavy parts down near the mounting.
• Continuous rotation on the larger models and as an option on the smaller ones.
• Two main boom cylinders, one on each side.
